Set within a 300-acre estate in Hertfordshire, The Grove is one of England’s top modern parkland courses – and the only UK venue to have hosted a World Golf Championship. Designed by Kyle Phillips and opened in 2003, it combines strategic challenge with immaculate presentation. The routing flows through rolling countryside, mature woodland, and open meadows, with every hole framed beautifully by manicured bunkers and fast, contoured greens. It’s not brutally difficult, but it demands smart play and precise ball striking. The par-4 9th and par-5 18th stand out for their risk-reward possibilities. Conditioning is consistently tour-grade, and the resort facilities – spa, hotel, dining – are world class. The Grove is fully open to visitors, with no members, and the service reflects that: welcoming, professional, and efficient. It’s a perfect round for corporate golf, luxury weekend breaks, or pre-Open tune-ups. Expect a seamless experience from arrival to final putt. Not a links, not a test of survival – The Grove is pure five-star parkland enjoyment.

Target golf with fast greens and tight pin positions. Use spin control into firm approaches and pick smart lines on sloped putting surfaces.
Very playable. Take advantage of generous landing areas and avoid attacking tucked pins. Focus on approach strategy – greens are slick.
Welcoming layout with good visual cues and wide fairways. Forward tees make the course manageable – great for confidence building and enjoyment.
11 – tour-standard, fast and true
Minimal – sheltered inland course with only gentle breezes
Well managed – attentive staff and spaced tee times ensure smooth rounds
Low – resort-style welcome and wide opener calm early jitters
Contemporary luxury – stylish design with five-star service and fine dining
The par-5 18th is a superb finishing hole with water down the left and a split fairway. The par-3 4th plays over a natural valley, and the 9th tempts big hitters with a narrowing landing zone and elevated green.
Typical southern England – mild, with best conditions from April to October. Excellent drainage means year-round playability, though frost can close morning tee times in winter.
