Portmarnock is classic links golf in its purest expression. Set on a narrow peninsula north of Dublin, it offers a complete test that rewards precision, patience and sound judgement from the first tee to the last green.

The layout is straightforward in appearance but demanding in execution. Fairways are clearly defined, bunkers are deep and punishing, and greens are firm, subtly contoured and uncompromising. Approach play is the true measure of success here. Being on the correct side of the fairway often matters more than length off the tee.

Wind off the Irish Sea is ever-present, influencing club selection and trajectory without overwhelming the design. There is no trickery and no weakness. Each hole asks a simple question and expects a confident answer.

Portmarnock is restrained and authoritative. A course that never shouts, yet commands total respect.
