Stoke Park is one of England’s most iconic golf destinations – a 27-hole Harry Colt-designed parkland masterpiece dating back to 1908. Currently undergoing a major renovation led by Mackenzie & Ebert, the course and estate are being elevated to match their cinematic legacy (including appearances in Goldfinger and Bridget Jones). The Colt Course – typically the front nine – showcases Colt’s brilliance: sweeping doglegs, elevated greens, and strategically placed bunkers. The parkland setting is lush and classically English, with tree-lined fairways, lakes, and vistas of the 18th-century mansion clubhouse. Precision is key here – especially around fast, subtle greens. Though not long by modern standards, it’s a strategic course that rewards thought and shot placement. When the full 27 holes are in play (Colt, Alison, and Lane Jackson loops), the variety and routing flexibility are superb. Post-refurbishment, Stoke Park is set to rejoin the top tier of UK golf and hospitality destinations – a playground for those who appreciate both history and excellence.

Shotmaking is everything. It’s not about power – control your trajectory, shape your approaches, and think one shot ahead on every hole.
Fair and forgiving off the tee. The challenge lies in approach accuracy and short game finesse. Avoid short-siding yourself around the slick greens.
Welcoming and playable with wide fairways. Green surrounds are tricky, but the layout encourages good tempo and rewards conservative strategy.
10 – smooth and fast, classic Colt contours
Minimal – sheltered by woodland and gently rolling topography
Well-managed – especially for resort guests and society groups
Moderate – grand clubhouse behind and history all around, but generous fairway helps settle nerves
Palatial – an 18th-century mansion with 5-star luxury and cinematic charm
The 7th is the famous Goldfinger hole – a stunning par-3 over water. The 9th is a long par-4 sweeping toward the mansion. The 18th – framed by lakes and gardens – is a grand finale worthy of the estate’s elegance.
Classic Home Counties climate – playable year-round with good drainage. Warm summers, mild winters, and colourful autumns. Tree-lined setting can create still, humid days in July and August.
