Castle Stuart – now rebranded as Cabot Highlands – is a benchmark for modern links golf. Designed by Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen, the course opened in 2009 and quickly vaulted into the world’s top 100. The routing is masterful: holes sweep along the Moray Firth on three separate occasions, giving dramatic sea views from almost every tee. The front nine plays across a low, shoreline plain; the back nine climbs to higher ground, offering panoramic vistas and thrilling elevation changes. Fairways are generous, but strategic angles into the large, undulating greens create constant decisions. It’s playable for all skill levels – challenging without being punishing, and designed to keep the ball in play. The turf is fast and springy, and the bunkering is beautifully sculpted. The par-3 11th and cliffside par-5 18th are unforgettable. From the art deco clubhouse to the attention to detail in course maintenance, this is a five-star links experience. It’s visually inspiring, tactically stimulating, and enormously fun.

Play smart angles into pins and control spin on approach. Don’t chase flags tucked behind contours. There’s room off the tee – the challenge is on the greens.
A perfect course to feel confident on. Use the width off the tee to your advantage. Keep approaches simple and enjoy the playable design. Avoid short-siding.
One of the most forgiving top courses in Scotland. Wide fairways, few forced carries, and walkable terrain make it very enjoyable at any level.
9.5 – firm, pure, and consistent
Exposed to coastal breezes. Prevailing wind from the west. Can change quickly with tide shifts.
Well managed – resort experience with attentive staff and smooth flow
Spectacular views settle the nerves. You feel you’re in for something special – and you are
Stylish art deco – elegant, bright, and warm with views of the Moray Firth
The par-3 11th plays along the Firth with a green clinging to the cliff’s edge. The 18th is a breathtaking par-5 finisher with heroic second shot potential. The short par-4 3rd tempts the bold with a drivable green over gorse and water.
Northeast Highlands climate – cool, breezy, but drier than Scotland’s west coast. Crisp mornings and long twilight rounds are common in summer. Weather can shift with sea mists.
