Dunaverty is a joyful blast of traditional Scottish golf – rugged, raw, and wildly scenic. Located near Southend, with panoramic views across to Northern Ireland and the Isle of Sanda, the course plays over crumpled, seaside land in a natural rhythm. It’s short on the card but never dull – there are blind shots, hillside tee boxes, tiny greens, and fairways that ripple with character. You’ll use every club in your bag, but rarely at full throttle. The 1st hole feels like playing through a farmers field but it gets better. The 7th – known as “Ben’s View” – provides one of the best vistas in Scotland. Despite its modest length, Dunaverty is no pushover. Crosswinds, uneven lies, huge elevations, drops and tricky greens demand focus and finesse. But there’s no pressure here – just golf in its simplest, happiest form. A round takes under four hours, and you’ll leave smiling, with stories and a desire to come back. Dunaverty isn’t famous – and that’s part of its magic.

The 7th (“Ben’s View”) is a short par-3 with panoramic views. The 14th hugs the edge of the headland, testing your distance control with distraction from the landscape.

Coastal, changeable, and beautiful. West coast mists, sudden sunbursts, and epic skies are all part of the round. Spring and autumn offer incredible visibility and colour.
