Playing the Course
Situated in the heart of the Highlands, only five minutes’ drive from the world-famous Royal Dornoch, The Carnegie Club is a private members-only residential club which offers its members and their guests the chance to relax, play golf and enjoy sporting activities in the most tranquil and beautiful surroundings.
For golfers, the transformed 18-hole Carnegie Links is the jewel in the club’s crown.
It’s unique in that it’s a fantastic test of the skills of links golf, whilst at the same time being one of the least played (and therefore quietest) courses in the country.
With a setting that will take your breath away, the Carnegie Links is recognised as the true hidden gem of Scottish golf.
Carnegie Course at Skibo Castle
In 2003 on the commission of US billionaire, Ellis Short, the Carnegie Links was completely transformed. Gorse lining a number of holes was removed and all seventy two bunkers were revetted.
Eight holes were refashioned, including the opening four holes giving the course a new look, whilst remaining faithful to the beautiful landscape of the Dornoch coast.
It’s a slightly longer course with many obstacles including the ‘risk and reward’ 17th, a challenge for most golfers.
