Frequenty Asked Questions
How do you actually secure tee times on the Old Course at St Andrews?
Executive Golf & Leisure is an Authorised Provider of St Andrews Old Course tee times. We have an annual allocation of guaranteed Tee Times for the Old Course. Where advanced, guaranteed Tee Times are unavailable we manage the ballot process for clients to give them the best chance of securing a Tee Time.
Do we need to stay a minimum number of nights to include the Old Course?
Yes. Old Course access only works best when it sits within a well-structured tour. We typically recommend a minimum five-night stay. This allows us to combine St Andrews with other world-class courses, the right accommodation, and a sensible flow to the trip.
What happens if we don’t get an advanced tee time?
Our team can help you apply for the daily ballot. The daily ballot is part of the St Andrews tradition. Every day a certain number of tee times are available and clients enter a draw to obtain these tee times. We handle entries, contingencies, and alternative rounds so there is always outstanding golf planned.
Can you arrange the Old Course for smaller groups or individual golfers?
Absolutely. The Old Course is best played in fourballs, but we regularly work with pairs, threeballs, and solo golfers. We structure tee times, caddies, and additional rounds to suit how you want to travel.
Are there handicap or player requirements we need to be aware of?
The St Andrews Links Trust sets a maximum handicap of 36 for both men and women. The starter may ask for confirmation on the day, so we collect and manage this in advance. There are no other formal restrictions. If you love the game and respect the place, you belong there.
Is there a dress code for playing the Old Course?
There is no specific dress code, standard golf attire is fine. But dress for the weather and remember all the photos you will keep for life. It’s worth looking the part.
