Playing the Course
Southerndown is like no other golf course; The unusual ‘limestone-heath’ which rises over 70 meters from the sea gives it fantastic views, free drainage for the course and overlying soil which supports the heathland vegetation.
Dubbed the “Limestone Heathland Links,” Southerndown presents an original course with a unique twist. Famous names such as Willie Fernie, Herbert Fowler, Harry Colt, and Donald Steel to name a few, have all played a part in creating the course we know today.
Southerdown Golf Club
Championship golf is the result. In the past the GC have staged the Martini and Piccadilly tournaments and nowadays they host top Amateur Championships – including, of course, their own Duncan Putter.
