Playing the Course

Longniddry golf course is situated near Edinburgh on The Wemyss Estate and – designed by Harry S Colt – is the first links course at the start of the famous East Lothian golf trail. This par 68 course is a good test for any golfer with many raised large greens and approaches that you would expect of a traditional links layout.

Many top players have complimented the condition of the course, with some describing it as “pristine” “superb” and “very much worth a visit to play”.

Longniddry Golf Club regularly hosts national tournaments and recently staged the qualifier for the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open 2018.

The course would be described as inland although there are views of the coast line from some aspects of the back nine.

A mixture of parkland and heathland and rolling fairways make for a good quality golf course that offers a refreshing change in an area heavily populated with classic links tracks.

Longniddry Golf Course

The course rewards players who plot their way around with open fairways and large undulating greens, but no shortage of obstacles such as hidden bunkers, gorse and extremely thick rough.

Tactical golf is required with accurate driving and deft chipping required in and around the approach to the greens.
