Playing the Course
The rural setting of Royal Dornoch, on the northern coast of Sutherland, is both scenic and spellbinding and thousands of golfers from across the world regularly make the pilgrimage to this ‘must-play’ course.
Formed in 1877, Royal Dornoch has hosted the British Amateur and Scottish Amateur Championships in recent years.
It’s a timeless setting that makes Royal Dornoch such a pleasing place to play golf. It’s wild, isolated and absolutely beautiful; there’s a blaze of colour in early summer when the gorse is in flower. The pure white sandy beach divides the links from the Dornoch Firth and this beauty is rather humbling.
Royal Dornoch, Championship Course
Royal Dornoch has exceptional standards and strives to exceed the expectations of our frequent visitors and loyal members. However, we aim to do this in a relaxed, informal environment, with an emphasis on traditional highland hospitality.
Golfing legend Tom Watson, an honorary member of Royal Dornoch, is quoted as saying ‘Dornoch is the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course.’
