After a full restoration, Glenapp Castle opened to guests in 2000 and has been a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux Association since 2002 and rightly recognised as one of Scotland's finest country house hotels. Glenapp Castle has been awarded 5 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes from The AA and 5 Gold Stars from VisitScotland as well as a 6 in the Good Food Guide.
The castle is a spectacular example of the 'Scottish Baronial' style of architecture, set in magnificent private gardens and grounds high on a hill looking out across the Irish Sea to Arran, Ailsa Craig and the Mull of Kintyre.
All of the original character and atmosphere of this spectacular Victorian stately home has been retained and every room has been individually decorated in traditional style and furnished with carefully chosen fine antique furniture and original art. The 36 acres of grounds have also been restored to provide a magical expanse of glorious gardens and woodland, including the two and a half acre walled garden with its many unusual specimens and an impressive 150ft Victorian glasshouse.
Guests can enjoy the terraced formal gardens or play croquet on the lawn, or in more energetic mode, tennis on the all-weather tennis court.
Dining each evening at the castle is a peerless experience with the finest cuisine created by a skilled and professional team and complemented by carefully selected wines from the castle cellars. Service is as you would expect, second to none.
The surrounding Ayrshire and Galloway countryside is ruggedly beautiful with many places of interest for guests to visit. Guests who enjoy golf can play the famous Championship courses of Turnberry, Prestwick, Troon and Western Gailes or the many excellent local courses within an hour of the castle. Alternative activities and tours can be arranged for the non-golfers in the party.
