Carnoustie Golf Links

Is simply a must play for any golfer. Host to seven Open Championships and soon to be eight come 2018 Carnoustie is one of the world’s finest Links Courses. Some say the most difficult and some say simply a masterpiece. With no more than 2 holes in a row going in the same direction you have to think your way round whilst always taking into account the natural elements which protect Links courses. The list of winners is testament to the quality of the course and is a course which every golfer tests themselves to the limit. As Sam Torrance once said “Carnoustie’s strength is it has no weaknesses”

A course originally introduced to take the pressure off the Championship Course it soon became a firm favourite with locals and visitors. In 1953 when Carnoustie staged the only Open Championship in which Ben Hogan took part the Burnside was used as a qualifying course. In those days everyone had to qualify and Hogan himself shot 70 enabling entry to the Championship which he went on to win. Nowadays the Burnside is a great compliment to its big brother and at 6000 yards it is a testing par 68.

Traditionally the 3rd course at Carnoustie and definitely the youngest having been built in 1980. Following a £600,000 investment and the opening of 2 new holes in 2014 the Buddon is now the same length and par as the Burnside and some say it has the best greens of all the Carnoustie Links.
